Money Grab

Our son’s Orchestra class had a mandatory parent meeting last night. I had COVID so I asked my kids’ dad to go. He didn’t want to. He said he threw away the email and he wasn’t planning on it. He said he thought these meetings were pointless. I asked if that meant he didn’t want to go. I said I could go sit in the back and try not to spread around COVID. He said he’d go.
He left as late as he possibly could about 6:55pm. He normally likes to arrive early to things. The meeting started at 7:00. He was back home by 7:35 (10 minute drive). I asked how the meeting was and he said, “It was a money grab.” I asked in what way. He said they asked them to pay dues.
That was the end of the conversation. I saw an email from the orchestra teacher later who described the fundraiser was to clean up after Football games on Saturday mornings and they need parent volunteers. He didn’t say any of that. He didn’t give any useful information. He came home with a piece of paper, but I don’t know where it is.
He went into the gym and biked for 2+ hours on his trainer. I didn’t ask for any more info because I knew it wouldn’t go anywhere. His unspoken message was that he resented going to the meeting and he wasn’t going to be helpful and pass on anything useful so that I won’t be inclined to ask him to attend those meetings in the future.
